What’s all this fuss about Pinterest anyway?

Pinterest is now the third most popular social media site for business in America. But what’s all the fuss about?

We think that Pinterest is fantastic for both product and service based business who want to express their brand creatively. It is basically an online pinboard to which you can upload pictures that showcase your business. However, first, you need to be invited! You don’t need to have someone else invite you to Pinterest – you can invite yourself. Simply go to www.pinterest.com and click ‘request an invite’. Your invitation will come to your email address within 24 hours.

Once you have set up your account, you will need to create boards that are appropriate for showcasing your business. You can develop a several different pinboards with different focuses, such as products, places and Team.

We have been developing the Pinterest account for Kigali Crafts Ltd. Kigali Crafts (also founded by Amy Trumpeter) is a fair trade company that supports Rwandan gencocide survivors. Kigali Crafts aims to educate people about the history and culture of Rwanda, as well as selling the products. Therefore, having ‘Books we Recommend’ and ‘Films we Recommend’ worked perfectly for this business.

If you are interested in how a service based business might use Pinterest, have a look on our Trumpeter Media Pinterest Boards. We are interested in how people in the UK are using Pinterest for the promotion of their local and regional businesses. If you have started to use it for your business, and want to share your thoughts and experiences, please complete the feedback form below.
