A network itself is a group of friends, colleagues, and other personal contacts. Strong social networks can encourage healthy behaviours.  Regarding the world of computing, social networking is when online communities of people with common interests use a Website or other technologies to communicate with each other and share information. For example, a business-oriented social network would encourage people to share business related material.

What are Social Media Networks?

Social media networks are websites or online services that facilitate this communication.   According to Hubspot, Social Media Marketing enables others to advocate for your business through compelling content.

What Social Media Networks are available for me to use for my Business?

There are many more social media networks out there to choose from now, other than just Facebook and Twitter. Approximately 70% of the UK population are on Facebook, making Facebook a popular choice for marketing services and products interactively.

However, the key idea to getting marketing right is to find your customers. Find your customers BEFORE using social media networks for your business. For example, if you have a high proportion of female customers, and your business uses a lot of creative images, Pinterest might work well. If you are selling ethical products and target ‘green’ customers, you could consider using Ozoshare.  Foursquare may be a good option for a restaurant or cafe as it allows people to ‘check in’.

Choose your social media networks carefully based on where your customers are.  If you would like more information on using social media networks to market your business, please contact us, we would love to help.
